LaVera Langeman was raised in Bellingham and then moved to New York City where she lived for fifteen years. She has recently moved back to Bellingham with her husband to raise their children. In New York, LaVera studied art and fashion at the Fashion Institute of Technology. After a career as a fashion designer, she took up painting so she could spend more time raising her children. LaVera sells most of her paintings to clients in New York, although her local clientele is building. She has exhibited in several gallery shows in New York and has been published in the William and Mary Review. Her style uses lots of color combined with whimsical subject matter. LaVera is also an extraordinary quilter and has published a book on quilting entitled, LaVera will be stepping out in Bellingham. Watch for her this September at the Colophon Cafe!
